The Year of Mercy

The Year of Mercy starts this December and with Pope Francis calling on all Catholics to reach out to people in need. it will offer an opportunity for the Mini Vinnies to recruit more members and  to respond.

However, exactly how can set you about getting involved?

Talking in assemblies or in your newsletters to other pupils may encourage others to join the Mini Vinnnies.

Or, how about asking everyone, children and staff to do a kind act everyday? For example, opening a door for someone, saying please and thank you, you are welcome, tidying a bookcase, picking up litter for the caretaker.  I am sure that you can think of many more!  Perhaps have a box and when someone is seen doing something kind the person who has witnessed it can put a note of that person's name and action into the box.  These can then be read out in class or an assembly, or even displayed on a Year of Mercy notice board.

When you are a Mini Vinnie, a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, you are actively Seeing, Thinking and Doing something to help those who need our help.  That is exactly what Pope Francis is asking everyone to do!

PLEASE let me know what you are planning to do for The Year of Mercy.  I shall celebrate this on this website and in our next spring term newsletter.

Thank you Mini Vinnies.
