Cheadle Junior School

The Mini Vinnies at Cheadle Catholic Junior School ran two very successful appeals during Lent 2016. Firstly, having been inspired by the CAFOD Make A Splash assembly, they decided to send home CAFOD collection boxes with each pupil and were delighted that, when the final amounts were totted up, we were able to send a cheque for almost £1,500 to CAFOD. Many children had brought back full boxes, had them emptied and taken them home again to refill.

Closer to home, they sent a letter home asking families to donate items for Chelwood Foodbankplus and, last week, a small group delivered over 250 items of food and toiletries to the foodbank. When they were there, they were able to find out about how the foodbank works and report back to the rest of the group at the fortnightly meeting. The pictures show the Mini Vinnies who visited the foodbank with the collection and then meeting with the volunteers when they delivered the food to Chelwood Baptist Church.
