From the Vinnies

Mini Vinnies are Dementia Friends at St Joseph's Dudley

St Joseph’s Mini Vinnies go to Mary Stevens Park to Unite against Dementia!

It is Dementia Week and as our Mini Vinnies are now Dementia Friends following their training, they decided to go along to the event in Mary Stevens Park on Tuesday 16th May which was organised by the Alzheimer’s Soceity.

It was a fun-filled day where we learnt lots more about how to ‘spread the word’ about Dementia and how to help others. The Mini Vinnies also heard lots of stories from those who had dementia or knew someone in their family who has dementia.

Here are the Mini Vinnies with their Unite against Dementia flags which we waved as we had a walk around the duck pond.

We also took part in lots of fun activities, such as traditional carpet making and glitter collages

We sang to the people who were in the park and they loved listening to us! It was such a special day. Here we are enjoying a circle time with the volunteers and staff at Alzheimer’s Society. We talked about our special mission as a Dementia Friend and how we would help people  Julie from the Alzheimer’s Society was so pleased that we came she sent us a beautiful thank you card, and congratulated us on our singing and behaviour!

We can’t wait to do more work with the Alzheimer’s Society in the future!
